This mower has plenty of power to cut through tough bermuda grass and fescue at a fairly rapid pace.
The cut is very even, almost equivalent to the better push mower cuts.
The front wheels are casters with no tread and a squaredoff profile.
The zero turn feature is very nice but requires some getting used to.
At first i could not hold a straight line, but after a couple of hours i could do fairly well.
Now, controlling it has become almost automatic.
Going from forward to reverse only requires pulling back on the handles, no shifting required.
Forward speed is infinitely adjustable, 0 to 6 mph.
Most yards are too rough and thick for anything near the maximum speed with this mower.
This ztr mower will trim very well, but it takes a lot of patience and care to avoid damaging turf when making sharp turns around obstacles.
I still use my push mower for trimming around and under trees and in tight places.
When the grass is wet, the tires slip on tight turns, damaging turf, so mowing when grass is wet is not recommended unless tight turns can be avoided.
This results in a constant left turn with the handles pushed all the way forward.
This must be standard as i checked four other examples of the same mower at lowes and they are all the same.
I got used to this unequal lever situation quickly during mowing.
The three gallon fuel tank is enough for probably three acres of average mowing without refueling.
The hour meter that comes with the mower is useful only if one remembers to turn off the key when the engine is not running, as the meter is actuated by the battery, not the spark plug wire.
I left the key on one time and it ran up 24 extra hours, so i replaced the hour meter with one that connects to the spark plug wire that measures engine run time only.
This gives an idea when it is time for lube and oil change.
The seat is quite comfortable.
The position allows better visibility than tractor style mowers.
Maintenance is pretty easy.
The wheels and deck are both belt driven.
Belt replacement looks to be easily doable.
